CT4E Airtrainer (RNZAF)

The Airtrainer is a New Zealand success story. Designed by Pat Monk and his design team at New Zealand Aerospace Industries (successor to AESL) as a military light trainer. The aircraft derived inspiration from the Airtourer and four seat AESL Aircruiser, but despite a similar appearance was in essence structurally a new design with lots of innovations added.
The RNZAF bought 19 CT/4B Airtrainers, entering service in July 1976. They were based for most of their life at Wigram, before moving to Ohakea shortly before retirement and replacement by the next generation of the Airtrainer.
The CT-4B was found to be a great aerobatic performer and took on the role of displaying with the Red Checkers formation team, seen all over New Zealand over the years.
Other operators of the piston engined Airtrainer were the RAAF and the Royal Thai Air Force and BAE Systems in Australia.
This resin and metal model of the RNZAF Airtrainer is Kiwi Resin's latest kit, and features separate flaps, detailed cockpit, correct width fuselage etc.
