De eilanden van de Antillen bestaan uit de benedenwindse eilanden Curaçao, Aruba en Bonaire (nabij Venezuela en het vaste land van Zuid-Amerika) en de bovenwindse eilanden St.Maarten, Saba en St.Eustatius zo'n 900 km ten Noorden hiervan bij het Amerikaanse Puerto Rico. Er waren in de West maar een paar honderd Nederlandse militairen gelegerd, waarvan een deel bij de Marine Luchtvaartdienst Het boek geeft het complete verhaal over de militaire luchtvaat boven het gebied. Niet alleen over de MLD (1952-1981), maar ook de Fokker F.XVIII bommenwerpers (1940-1942) en over de militaire Piper Cubs. Met vele nieuwe illustraties.
