Polikarpov R1 (Unlicenced DH9A copy)

This kit is designed for advanced modellers and includes set of plastic parts for the assembly of one model of the aircraft (six sprues, one of which is clear), set of photoetched parts and sheet of decal.

Markings are provided for four different schemes.

The R1 was an unlicenced copy of the DH9A. Even then the Russians were not playing a fair game.

The R-1 and R-2 were heavily used by the Soviets through the 1920s as its standard light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. The Soviets deployed them in support of the Chinese Kuomintang forces in the Northern Expedition against warlords in 1926–27, and against Chinese forces for control of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Machuria in 1929. R-1s and R-2s were also used in support of operations during the Basmachi Revolt in central Asia.
