Sikorsky HH3E Jolly Green Giant

Aurora released this model kit devoted to the Sikorsky HH-3 helicopter, nicknamed the Jolly Green Giant, between 1969 and 1977.

This kit of the military helicopter was modeled in a 1/72 scale. It had retractable landing gear and was molded in dark green and clear plastic.

Starting in the late 1960's, the Sikorsky HH-3 was used by the U.S. Air Force for several years in the role of transport and search-and-rescue. Known as the Jolly Green Giant, the aircraft featured protective armor, self-sealing tanks, a retractable inflight refueling probe, jettisonable external tanks, a high-speed hoist, and other specialized equipment. It was finally phased out of service during the 1990's.
