Product description

This is a set of 3D printed parts designed to fit the Airfix Mk.IX kit, main source of reference was the Monforton Spitfire book on the Mk.IX / Mk.XVI. Fastener and rivet detail is added and is as close to the kit as Aerocraft couldmake it. Two sets have been made to allow for early Mk.IX es to be made without the bulges to the wheel well and wing surface. This later set provides the extra parts for the bulges in the wheel bays and the additional tear drop and needle shape covers for the top wing surface. There is obviously a bit of a compromise to adding more thickness to the inner wheel bay, but it is certainly a better option than to remove part of the wing and then to make a nice good clean finish. It should be noted that the teardrop blister does not really have a raised flanged around it, especially to maintain scale, even at 1/24th. If you want to create it then spray a teardrop shape approximately 1mm larger than the blister, creating a step in the paint and then add the blister, or alternatively a very fine scribed line. Aerocraft have provided all the tricky parts to make but if you want to be super accurate you will have to fill and re-scribe some of the circulate access panels yourself.
