This program includes the NAS Oceana 2008 Air Show program which is 1 1/2 hours in length. In the remaining time, we present three additional short programs. They are: Additional 2008 Air Show Footage, Additional NAS Oceana 2007 Footage, and Hart Aviation Video Enterprises Historical Footage. The total running time on the disc is 2 hours and 7 minutes. Once again, Rich "Corky" Erie is your host for this remarkable program.
The weather at Oceana for the 2008 show was variable; windy with low ceilings for most of the weekend, and some rain. Many acts were not able to fly when originally scheduled. Nonetheless, we were able to assemble a very interesting program in which all of the performers appear. As usual, special emphasis is placed on the fighters and their demonstrations, including the Air Power demonstration. You see the Super Hornet do an amazing low show on Saturday, then some segments of the high show on Sunday. For contrast, the C-17 demo was also very impressive - you will see the amazing agility of that huge aircraft. As is the tradition at Oceana, the show is capped by the Blue Angels. In this presentation, we initiate some new audio techniques in the edit that might be of interest.
The first of the additional three programs presents additional footage from three other shows in 2008, Max Moga flying the F-22 "in your face" at Indianapolis, Snort Snodgrass on the deck in the P-51 "Excalibur" at the QCAS show, and the three Starfighters at Dayton.
We then see some additional footage from NAS Oceana 2007 that could not be included in the 2007 release. LCDR Paul Felini describes a control malfunction in the F/A-18C he was flying during demo practice and his successful trap landing. Also shown is Max Moga continuing his interview, some of which was seen in the 2007 video. He describes some very interesting advantages of flying the Raptor in combat. We then see some of the Raptor footage from Sunday in 2007; he was forced to fly a flat show, but we got vapor!
The fourth segment presents some brief samples of footage of early experiments which were significant in the development of Hart Aviation Video. Seen are a Missing Man at Frederick, MD in 1994, Dan McCue flying his amazing Yak-11 at Batavia, NY in 1995 and Dale Snodgrass doing a touch and go - part of the F-14 demo at a short strip in Batavia, NY in 1996. And then a Missing Man that was unique, even then.
