The construction of air transport in Czechoslovakia, immediately after the establishment of the state and the end of the First World War, began slowly and with difficulty. Private domestic airlines have not yet formed. Of course, the problem has arisen soon as what aircraft to use. Realistically, as in other larger states, they were adaptations of military types, mostly originally two-engined ones. This was more or less an emergency solution for considerably reduced transport.

The domestic aviation industry was rapidly building up, primarily in the interest of military defense procurement. It did not take long and the design offices came up with their own proposals for specialized airplanes for transport. The first Czechoslovak transport aircraft were built.

The decisive factor for this activity was the provision of air transport in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the Czechoslovak Republic. It was a joint initiative of the Ministry of National Defense (MNE) and the Ministry of Public Works (MVP). At first, it was the MNO, which launched the spring trial in 1923 between Prague and Bratislava and established the Air Transport Section. Provided technique, staff, traffic security. Subsequently, Czechoslovak State Aviation was established.

The author of the publication is a well-known aviation publicist and top developer of the company AERO Vodochody Ing. Pavel Kucera.

48 pages, 122 unique photos and sketches
