Product description

One of the many joys of working on this series is having the chance to work with world-leading experts on these various aircraft types, and Chris Thomas certainly fits that description with the Hawker Typhoon.
This is the Chris’s fourth book with Wingleadewr, and the third on the Typhoon. It covers the period around D-Day when the Typhoon probably achieved its greatest fame; the invasion striped, rocket firing ‘Tiffies’ subsequently inflicting mayhem upon many unfortunate Germans in post-war boys’ comics and annuals.
Chris has dug deep into his archive and has pulled out some remarkable photos for this volume, including detailed close-ups of the armour plate fitted to the radiator and also the camera installations on the FR 1B. There are also clear photos of the various dust filters that were quickly introduced to combat the Normandy dust in the summer of 1944. In short, everything that the modeller, or modelling companies, would need to create the ultimate D-Day Typhoon.
