Luftwaffe Me109s and FW190s were fitted with an electric device in the form of the throttle handle, that allowed the pilot to use the propeller pitch in manual mode. Only when a switch placed below the throttle group was put on "Hand", the pilot could use the "drehzahl" switch placed on top of the gas lever handle, and regulate the propeller RPM on his choice.
On the main instrument panel there was a strange instrument, similar to a clock, whose dials moved respect to pilot's switching, indicating a sort of hour code. So pilots knew they could have a perfect take off when prop was at 11.30 hours and so on...
The handle is made of non-toxic resin, and is composed by two main parts, a lever, two washers and nuts, a small plastic pivot and two small plastic rods. It can be assembled and painted in a very quick way. Beautifully moulded in resin, Maurizio Di Terlizzi has captured all of the fine detail of the German Throttle Handle as fitted to the Luftwaffe BF109G-6 T
The resin contains no flaws or air bubbles, which is quite a feat in a casting of this size.
