The MiG-15bis jet fighter aircraft of the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurjevic design bureau followed the original MiG-15 in serial production in the USSR from 1949. To a less knowledgeable viewer, the two aircraft might appear identical from the outside, but the MiG-15bis showed something higher performance thanks to the new Klimov VK-1 engine, had better armament and other minor design changes. Czech the military air force switched to the MiG-15bis, then officially marked S-103 in our country, from 1953, when 24 aircraft were delivered from the USSR, and from 1954, after the end of the production of the MiG-15/S-102, it took over the deliveries of aircraft of domestic license production. It ended in 1958 and produced a total of 620 machines, of which Czechoslovak the Air Force took delivery of 444. It is noteworthy that the MiG-15/S-102 had a specified service life of 10 years, so these aircraft, unless converted to the MiG-15SB, disappeared from service by 1964. The MiG-15SB had a service life after modification extended to 13 years, so that by 1967 he too was out of service. The MiG-15bis, although it did not differ significantly from the MiG-15 in terms of airframe, remained in service until the spring of 1983. These were machines from the last license series of 1958, so they served for less than 25 years. This publication continues the history of production and service in the Czech Republic. air force of the previous version of the MiG-15 aircraft described in previous publications of the Aero series.
