Boeing 777: An American Flagship

The Boeing 777 made its maiden flight on June 12, 1994.  A response to three requirements; a gap in Boeing's own range of jets, a replacement for tired TriStar and DC-10 tri-jets, and market demand evidenced by eight major airlines being involved with the design stage.

Nearly 23 years after announcement of the Triple Seven, it is still going strong and Boeing's 777 order book currently stands at over 2,000 aircraft including 370-plus unfilled deliveries, mostly for the all-new 777X.
