McDonnell Douglas MD82 with Alisarda and Meridiana

2017 and 2018 were the occasions for saying goodbye to the Meridiana fleet of the Super 82 which after 33 years of honourable service would leave the way clear for the new aircraft chosen by the management of the airline. The last four operational examples up to October 2017 with the registration markings I-SMES, I-SMET, I-SMER and I-SMEN (with I-SMER remaining operational as a reserve for the B737s until February 2018) have become the ambassadors for an epoch that has just come to an end, where the innovations brought to the fore since the planning phases have changed the way of flying on the short and medium range routes.
