Product description

The Legend of Speed and Desperation

The Messerschmitt Me 163B was an attempt to create a "miracle weapon" - Germany's answer to Allied bombing raids. As a rocket-powered interceptor, it reached speeds in excess of 1,000 km/h, outpacing the capabilities of most Allied aircraft.

Designed by Alexander Lippisch and tested by legendary pilot Heini Dittmar, the Komet was a technological sensation - the first aircraft to break the 1,000 km/h barrier. However, its great speed came at the cost of extreme risk.

The flight time was only about 12 minutes and the range from 27 to 100 km, which significantly limited the aircraft's operational capabilities. After using up fuel, the aircraft transformed into a glider, forcing pilots to make difficult and risky landings without power - often on a single skid.

These aircraft could only take part in combat operations again after being towed to an airport and prepared for take-off there.

Due to these unusual inconveniences, only the best and bravest pilots were able to control this machine, fight and, above all, land it safely. Among these few pilots, there was also a woman, whose figure was reproduced in the set.

Despite its limited range and operational difficulties, the Me 163 will forever be remembered in history as the fastest fighter of World War II and a symbol of the desperate technological race.
