Douglas D-558-I Skystreak 'NACA'. US Navy together with the civil organization NACA were the issuers of D-558-I test aircraft. Past the speed records and US Navy requested tests, Skystreaks were handed over to NACA (according to the US Navy issue swept wing D-558-II was in design stage we produce a kit of this aircraft in 1/72 scale of cat. no. SH72163 and SH72180). NACA used their Skystreaks for various tests from high
altitude test to numerous bodies attached to the wing tips. The aircraft received new paint jobs; overall red color was over sprayed by white color, some portions still remained in red and some were even in natural metal. We managed to reconstruct 6 different camouflages and the particular marking are contained within the decal sheet. The kit also contains one sprue with plastic parts, injected canopy, detailed resin and photo-etched parts
