N2400X “Red 511” began its life as a Polish-built SBLim-2, a two-seat trainer variant of the iconic MiG-15. Originally developed by converting earlier single-seat MiG-15 fighters, the SBLim-2 helped train the next generation of jet pilots during the Cold War.
The MiG-15 was among the first operational jet fighters to feature swept wings, allowing it to approach the speed of sound and outperform many early straight-wing jets. It became famous during the Korean War, where it battled aircraft like the North American F-86 Sabre in the skies over “MiG Alley” and threatened bombers such as the Boeing B-29 Superfortress.
After decades of service behind the Iron Curtain, this aircraft eventually made its way to the United States through private ownership. In 2026, MotoArt preserved part of its skin to create these authentic PlaneTags.
