Ilyushin IL-2 1943

One of the most famous planes from World War II, the IL-2 was designed and mass-produced in the USSR starting in 1941. Production of subsequent versions of the Il-2 was canceled only a few years after the war. In total, about 36,000 of these aircraft were built. The initial versions struggled with many problems and were replaced in 1942-43 by Il-2 aircraft with a two-man crew, more powerful engines and reinforced armament. This model presents the original design of the wings, which was completely different than in the slightly later IL-2M3 model, in which they got a more aggressive angle of attack. In the West, the plane gained the popular name "Shturmovik."

The IL-2 aircraft was designed from COBI construction blocks in the scale of 1:32 using new elements. The block model offers many movable elements such as a rotating propeller, movable wing ailerons and wheels with rubber tires that can be folded to a horizontal position. Details and historical winter camouflage have been reproduced. The blue underside of the plane definitely draws attention. The cockpit canopy has been redesigned and can be opened to seat the pilot and gunner figures in the seats. Thanks to a special display stand with a plate containing the name of the plane and a place to attach the figures, the whole set looks fantastic! The model uses durable prints and historical markings.
