Since 1998 and the first book on the Morane 406 published by Lela Presse, numerous discoveries have made a new publication essential. This is evidenced by the volume of this study, which forced it to be divided into two volumes, even though it is devoted solely to the aircraft in French colors. The list of contributors also illustrates the enthusiasm generated by the project, each contributing photos or documents to make it as comprehensive as possible.
Developed in the unique context of the second half of the 1930s, this aircraft featured numerous innovations, so much so that it can be described as a pioneer. Although it may have been very, or too, spread out over time, its development has been made more detailed thanks to the discovery of previously unknown reports. Something unthinkable only recently, the Air Force archives and documents obtained from pilots have made it possible to recount virtually all the missions from May 10 to June 25, 1940. With these contributions, we hope that this two-volume work will delight both technology enthusiasts and those more interested in operational activity. Sometimes coming from unexpected sources, all these discoveries have confirmed the obvious: there is still more to be discovered.
This volume totals 384 pages, contains more than 600 photos, plans, and drawings, as well as 21 color profiles by Éric Schwartz!
