The book from well known aviation author Martyn Cartledge, and with it’s Foreword by Manchester Airports MD Chris Woodroofe, takes you from the airport's beginnings to becoming a true world player, reliving the airports history before showcasing many of the very important departments that go to make up Manchester Airport. Detailing the roles that perform the varied tasks required, so as to help explain what you can see whilst looking out of the terminal windows. 

How do passengers travel through the terminals and indeed how do the aircraft they fly on, also find their way? What can you see? Where can you see it? What do all the signs mean? What are the pieces of equipment dotted around the airport, and what do they do? All of this and more is interspersed with a number of photo spreads illustrating some of the many events and interesting aircraft to have passed through. Each section is also illustrated with images depicting airport roles or events from each department or time period. The vast majority of the more contemporary images are all from Martyn’s vast collection and taken with unrivalled access to the departments or topics concerned.
