The writers Gunter Harzbecher, Hans Joachim Hardt and Karl-Erich Hauschildt describe in detail the development of the wing from dislocation in Neubrandenburg in 1960 till to disbandment 1990.
Long years experience as wing commander, chief of technical aviation service and chief of political department give a deep look in the life of the wing.
The instruction of the pilots, the support by the technical aviation staff and the life of the wing members in the city Neubrandenburg are in the focus of this book.

The questions of airsafety and aircraft accidents have a special place. In the above-named time aircraft crashes and accidents took place during the flights of the 2nd fighter wing, unfortunately also in result of death of crew-members. These accidents got in the GDR the status "high secret" and have been concealed from public. The book remembers by presentation and description of causes and context with high respect these accidents. A lot of pictures, of statements of witness and copies of former secret documents out of the Federal Archive/Military Archive are part of the book. Some awesome personaly narration of adventures in the wing give a look into the mind, the motivation and also problems in the life of aviators that time.
