Product description

This is a book about the time two Scandinavian airline companies (AB Aerotransport from Sweden and Det Danske Luftfartsselskab A/S from Denmark) had a falling-out and German airline interests tried to establish themselves in the Nordic countries. Deutscher Aero Lloyd AG (DAL) and Junkers Luftverkehr AG (Jlag) fought for landing rights in the region. Looking back, it might be suggested that Jlag won the fight, as at present two airline companies founded with Jlag aid still exist: AB Aerotransport in Sweden and Aero OY in Finland (nowadays called Finnair). But in the other Nordic countries (Norway, Denmark, and Iceland) Jlag did not succeed. In this book, the work done by Jlag in these countries will be described in full detail based on newly discovered documents. Many new historic facts will turn up. The main story will however be about the work in Denmark, where Jlag started the airline company Dansk Lufttransport AS in 1925. It lasted only one year, and had served its purpose when Deutsche Luft Hansa AG was founded on January 6, 1926 as the result of a merger between DAL and Jlag.

This book will illustrate the history of the Dansk Lufttransport AS and the routes it flew. The routes to Malmö and Berlin will be described in full detail, illustrated with over eighty unique photographs, three aircraft drawings in full colour, flight lists and statistics. The reader will also find a lot of information about Jlag/Jfa activities (Jfa = Junkers Flugzeugwerk AG) in Europe in the years preceding 1925, all of which attempts to give as detailed as possible a picture of the development of aviation in this area. Enjoy reading this book!
