Product description
A large representation of air forces from 13 NATO member nations took part in the new NATO “Flag series” exercise Ramstein Flag 24 from 30 September to 11 October 2024. The centrepiece of this large and complex exercise was Andravida Air Base, located in the western Peloponnese, home to the last Phantoms of the Helleniki Aeroporia.
Flag exercises date back to 1975 and pioneered a radically new type of fighter training developed to help the USAF “train while fighting”. Generally, Red Flag exercises are air combat exercises conducted with multiple scenarios designed to provide realistic combat environments. Based on the traditional designations of red, meaning enemy, and blue, meaning friend, air forces are distinguished into those simulating air defence assets that are engaging offensive or adversary assets.
