B-25 Mitchell

An important part of the aircraft fleet of the Soviet Air Force in the years of the Second World War was the American twin-engined mid-bomber North American B-25 Mitchell. The first flight of the new B-25, which shortly received the name Mitchell in honor of General Mitchell, passed on August 19, 1940. When representatives of the USSR, the United States and the United Kingdom met in Moscow in September 1941, the demands presented by various Soviet instances . The list of types potentially eligible to purchase was also compiled by the General Staff Intelligence Administration, which included the B-25 as the only one. The publication describes the version, delivery and deployment of this machine.

Tupolev SB

Sovereign twin engine bomber Tupolev SB played an irreplaceable role during the Civil War in Spain in the ranks of the Republican Air Force The range of tasks that the SB performed on the Iberian Peninsula was indeed broad: tactical raids against ground targets in the battlefield, bomber attacks against insurgent controlled agglomerations, raids against hostile Ships, reconnaissance, maritime patrol flights, and in some cases even defensive fighter activities in defense of Mediterranean ports. The elegant twin-engine monoplanes were virtually immune to the interception by older Heinkel He 51 and Fiat CR 32 biplane fighters. With the advent of the German Bf 109 Messerschmitt, the SB lost a significant portion of its invincebility, but daily bomber events took place up to Republicans of the tragic conclusion of the Civil War.
