Reissue in the Vintage series
Launched in December 1963 this was the first Assault ship of the Royal Navy. Designed to act as a Headquarters during an amphibious assault she can carry up to a maximum of 700 troops along with tanks and other heavy equipment, as well as having a helipad landing deck. Used to great effect in the Falklands War in 1982.
On 17 December 2007, Fearless was towed to Gent in Belgium to be broken up. This was the first warship successfully exported for recycling by any western government that fully complied with international agreements and the principles concerning environmentally sound management of waste.
