82-0001, christened "Leader of the Fleet," was the first B-1B out of 100 that came off the production line. Assembled using airframe parts from the planned fifth B-1A, it rolled out on September 4, 1984 and took its first flight on October 18, 1984. '0001 flew 138 test missions over a total of 617 hours, before beginning the next part of its mission as a weapons-loading trainer in August 1988. It was dismantled in May 1995 to comply with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. Parts of the airframe were used for JP-8 fire propagation testing at Wright-Patterson AFB, while MotoArt was lucky to acquire material to create PlaneTags.
Don't miss this second edition of the best selling Rockwell B-1B Lancer PlaneTags! The B-1B remains in service with the USAF and under Homeland Security restrictions, making this material nearly impossible to come by. Add B-1B Lancer PlaneTags to your collection or give as a gift that will never be forgotten.
