Product description

Polish text only.

This monograph is dedicated to the Polish PZL-130 Orlik trainer aircraft—one of the most significant domestic aviation designs to emerge in the final decades of the 20th century.

The publication details the history of the aircraft’s creation and its long-term development—from initial concepts and piston-powered prototypes, through various turboprop iterations, to the PZL-130 TC-I, TC-II, and TC-II Advanced versions. It provides an in-depth look at testing, upgrades, serial production, service within the Polish military aviation, and the role of the Orlik in the pilot training system. The development of the design—spanning from the maiden flight of the first prototype in 1984 through subsequent modernizations—lasted several decades; a total of 51 aircraft were built.

A dedicated section of the book covers the construction and equipment of the PZL-130, offering a detailed description of the airframe, wings, fuselage, empennage, landing gear, powerplant, onboard systems, cockpit, and the pilot’s flight and navigation equipment.

The book features an extensive collection of photographs documenting prototypes and production aircraft, cockpit interiors, equipment, structural details, and operational markings. This is complemented by technical data tables, lists of individual airframes, and diagrams of various systems and structural components.

Of particular value are the detailed scale drawings of the PZL-130 (in 1/72 and 1/48 scales), which cover the various prototypes as well as the TB, TC-I, and TC-II production versions. The final section of the publication features numerous full-color aircraft profiles, illustrating the evolution of the Orlik’s paint schemes and markings over the years—from the initial prototypes to the aircraft operated by the Polish Air Force.

This book will serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts of Polish aviation, historians of technology, scale modelers, and anyone interested in the development and service history of the PZL-130 Orlik aircraft.
