Product description

The book covers the history of the F-5 in the Brazilian Air Force from its acquisition in 1973 to the present day, emphasizing among others the designated modernization project known as F-5M and its current operational situation. The F-5 is a unique aircraft in the FAB, having become the longest and most important fighter in the history of the Brazilian Air Force.

Divided purposively into 5 chapters (from F-5), the structure begins with the history of the F-5 in the world, passing through the three distinct batches of the aircraft acquired in 1973, 1988 and 2007 (chapters 2, 3 and 4) and ends with the chapter covering the Modernized F-5.

This second edition has a further 44 pages (an increase of 25%) compared to the original edition, in order to update the history of the use of this aircraft in the last five years, including the reequipment of the 1st GDA, the fourth F-5M squadron, headquartered in Annapolis.

In addition to updating the aircrafts trajectory in Brazil, which includes new profiles, photos, fleet data, we also brought a series of updates and a comprehensive review of each chapter, correcting and expanding the data present in the first edition. It is a book that in addition to telling the biography of one of the most famous aircraft in the world, it also serves as a base for reference research for plastimodelism, as it brings fleet details, models, camouflage patterns, colors and marks of all variants of F-5 of the four batches used by the FAB squadrons.
