BA747 British Airways farewell 'Queen of the Skies'.

British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-CIVY was the very last British Airways Boeing 747-436 to leave London Heathrow Airport ending over 50 years of Boeing 747 operations. A downturn in passenger demand due to covid-19 resulted in British Airways bringing an end to 747 operations earlier than originally planned.

G-CIVY in the Chatham livery with crest departed very swiftly behind G-CIVB from runway 27R as BA747 on the 8th October 2020 destined for St Athan. The agile Queen of the Skies demonstrated a short take-off to those gathered to say farewell by the northern runway and then flew a circuit over London before performing a fly-past along runway 27L in appalling weather conditions.

Victor Yankee had been in storage at London Heathrow since 5th April and was flown to St Athan for part out and eventual scrapping.

Aviation Retail Direct are proud to be able to release this model to commemorate and pay tribute to such a workhorse for British Airways.
