Product description

The twin engine Grumman S-2F Tracker was born as an embarked antisubmarine airplane. The US supplied important quantities on MDAP account to allied nations and Italy also obtained a good number. Nicknamed "Stoof" contraction of the acronym "S-two-F" the first Trackers arrived in our country to replace the Harpoons. The first six  Trackers arrived on March 6, 1957 and for many years, the small Grumman conventional aircraft formed the backbone of the anti-submarine fleet, while, under the control of MarinAvia, the "owner" of the airplanes was Air Force while the operational control was up to the Navy. The Tracker ended its operational career on August 31, 1978, being replaced by the French Breguet Atlantic. In this new monograph, belonging to "Italian Aviation Series", the development of the aircraft, the service in Italy and the technical details are told; a useful chapter on modeling concludes the monograph.
