Four Focke Wulf Fw189 aircraft of 1/Nahaufklärungsgruppe 32 were captured in Norway after the war and flown from Bardufoss to Gardermoen in September 1945. Two being FW189A-2 while two being A-3. W. Nr. 2147 / GI+EU (an A-3) was one among these.
One of the four was taken over by the RNAF and had the Norwegian roundels applied. Whether 2147 was the one that became "The Green Man" is not verified. It is not known if this FW189 actually flew as 'the Green man' as they were used for ground instruction.
The aircraft was scrapped in the spring of 1946.
"The Green Man" was a pub Near North Weald where the Norwegian SAF Personel based in the UK liked to spend their free time between ops.
