HC-CXS began its career in Europe, the aircraft first flew for TuiFly and Air Berlin, one of the continent’s most recognized carriers, with the registration D-AHXJ.
Later, it moved on to the Middle East, flying with Wings of Lebanon (registration: T7-WLA), before crossing the Atlantic to Ecuador to serve the young airline Equair connecting travelers across Ecuador. Now flying under its sounding name „PAPGAYO“
Equair, originally founded as EquinoxAir in 2020, began operations in January 2022 with Boeing 737-700 flights between Quito and Guayaquil. Promoted as Ecuador’s first “Real Green” airline, it pledged carbon neutrality and avoided single-use plastics. Expanding quickly, Equair connected Quito, Guayaquil, and the Galápagos. Despite capturing about 15% of the domestic market, the airline struggled financially, accumulating nearly USD 17 million in losses. Unable to recover, Equair abruptly ceased operations on September 30, 2023, ending its short-lived journey.
Now, its legacy lives on in a limited series of aircrafttags. Every piece is unique and handcrafted, retaining authentic surface details, paint fragments, and subtle marks from its years in the skies. No two tags are alike – each carries the unmistakable fingerprint of aviation history.
