Product description

Preserve a Piece of Space Shuttle History

Experience two authentic artifacts from one of NASA's most iconic launch systems.

This limited-edition PlaneTags release features authentic material from Solid Rocket Booster Aft Skirt Serial Number 13 and the SRB Hold-Down Post, two components that played vital roles in launching the Space Shuttle.

Whether you choose the premium Original Thickness Collector Edition crafted from the aft skirt or the Classic PlaneTags Edition milled from the Hold-Down Post, each tag preserves a remarkable chapter of Space Shuttle history.

For more than three decades, the Space Shuttle relied on Solid Rocket Boosters to provide the thrust needed to lift astronauts, satellites, and scientific missions into orbit.

This collection preserves two authentic components from that launch system.

Aft Skirt Serial Number 13 supported 11 Space Shuttle missions between 1982 and 2002, including flights involving Columbia, Challenger, Atlantis, Discovery, and Endeavour. According to California Science Center records, its remarkable flight history includes missions that helped deploy satellites, conduct scientific research, service the Hubble Space Telescope, and assemble the International Space Station.

The SRB Hold Down Post played an equally important role on the launch pad. It secured the Solid Rocket Booster to the Mobile Launch Platform during countdown and was released at ignition, allowing the Shuttle stack to begin its journey into space.

Earlier this year, while working with the California Science Center, the MotoArt team helped prepare Aft Skirt Serial Number 13 for its permanent display as part of the Solid Rocket Booster Walk-Through Experience in the future Kent Kresa Space Gallery. During that process, authentic material was preserved, allowing these remarkable artifacts to continue inspiring future generations through PlaneTags. Read the full story on our blog.
