Your reliable Aviation Book Source since 1989
Published in 1996, with a preface by Air Corps General Claude Grigault, former head of the 92nd Bombardment Brigade in Cognac, the former Chief of Staff of the Air Force had then particularly emphasized "the competence and knowledge of the author for his environment,
the gathering of documentation of a quality and a scope which commands admiration, emphasizing moreover that others will discover his faith and his talent for producing works of this type contributing to making our tricolor wings better known."
Since then, with talent, many fellow authors have come to make their contribution in a beautiful way to this wish.
For this reissue, I wanted to highlight personnel often kept in the shadows, those belonging to the non-commissioned officer corps.
It is a pilot sergeant who presents this new edition today, one of those who during the Cold War ensured the backbone of the Air Force with his fellow mechanics and pilots.
Without the latter, fully invested in their responsibilities, no Vautour would be able to take off and then bring his crew safely back to port.
In 2025, the work has the same content as the original, however largely enhanced by the color of new photos and additional information as well as the production list.
For many, the SNCASO. 4050 Vautour twin-jet remains a legendary weapons aircraft if only for its mass, its aggressiveness, its aptitude for aerial combat during encounters with other Air Force fighters and ground attack as the Israelis have so well demonstrated.
