The airport was opened after several years of efforts in 1937, but already in 1938 it was used by the military, during the war was occupied by the German Luftwaffe and in 1945 it landed Spitfire 312th Squadron and started a sixty-year postwar chapter in the service of the Czechoslovak Air Force. The book details the history of the airport and its aeronautical features, including used aircraft, and contains hundreds of unique photographs.
