Also in this series:
Air Force helicopters appeared in 1950 to meet operational needs in war-torn Indochina and Algeria, where their crews and mechanics wrote their first pages of glory. Redeployed to mainland France in the early 1960s, they were also posted overseas and seconded to external operations in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. After supporting the action of ground forces in the Far East and North Africa, their crews were then fully dedicated to supporting Air units, also responding to requests from civil authorities in mainland France and overseas. Since the mid-1960s, the aircraft have been grouped into wings, squadrons, and squadrons, and a wide range of transport, support, air policing, fire support, and assistance missions are carried out daily. Fourteen different aircraft, from the Hiller 360 to the Caracal, from the Sikorsky H-19 to the Fennec, have already borne the Air Force's badges in the skies around the world, flown by women and men whose motto "fight and save" is more relevant than ever.
With more than 850 photos, 50 profiles, insignia, and maps, all on 544 pages.
