AMIR Mirage IIIRS (Swiss Air Force) : two books

Published in March 2004, this two set hardback work totaling approximately 210 pages of quality print covers the full spectrum of this prestigious French delta winged jet from its delivery in Switzerland in 1965 right up until the last flight in December 2003.
Amir has been compiled by authors Reto Seipel and Peter Lewis, names familiar to those associated with previous publications on the Swiss Hunter. Amir has been supported and created by Squadron 10 – the sole Mirage IIIRS operational squadron and both pilots and ground crew alike have contributed their stories and know-how in the making of this work. Critically acclaimed and lauded upon its release, Amir is the most gloriously produced book using a lacquered 7 color printing process that is usually reserved for art catalogs.
Volume 1 features the Mirage IIIRS in daily operations and highlights the aesthetic lines of this 1960s vintage reconnaissance fighter with stunning photography both in the air and at Swiss military airfields. Volume 2 is unique in that it uses actual images taken by the airplane's nose mounted cameras from Swiss landscapes and then shows that location on an actual map section.
