This aircraft was seen at numerous airshows throughout 2003. It received this special scheme to commemorate 20 years of Jagdbombergeschwader 38, based at Jever Air Base in northern Germany, in the Friesland region from which the squadron takes its name.
Tornado 44+08 carried a rather unusual colour scheme, even by special-marking standards, and it was the first aircraft to experiment with gold markings.This release was originally the very first decal sheet produced by Syhart Decal (Syhart 001) back in 2006. Reissued in 2026 to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary, the sheet has been completely updated and renumbered as Syhart 155, now also including the variant commemorating the squadron’s disbandment in 2005.
The Tornado features fairly simple and geometric shapes that lend themselves well to decal design, and although many consider it little more than a “bomber truck,” it can produce striking results when wearing special colour schemes.
