By 1985, Merpati Nusantara had updated its livery into a refreshed scheme that reflects the airline's evolution through Indonesia's economic development years. The Viscount was still in regular inter-island service at this point — a remarkable longevity for a design that first flew in the early 1950s — and Merpati's continued use of the type into the mid-1980s makes this one of the later operational Viscount liveries documented anywhere in the world.
