Fairey Flycatcher – wooden float

The Fairey Flycatcher was one of the earliest aircraft specifically designed for operation from aircraft carriers and could take off in under 50 meters! It is probably the most well-known of the Royal Navy's fleet fighters, serving for over 10 years on the front line in a variety of colorful markings. It also served on floats

   N9908/'2' - Operated as a floatplane from HMS Hermes when on the China Station with 403 Flight in 1926-7.

   N9889/'8' - 403 Flight, HMS Hermes in 1926-7. The aircraft was later to serve with 402 Flight HMS Eagle, until at least 1930.
