Designed by J.Lonek, the Zlín Z-XIII was an exceptionally sleek single seat racing and courier plane. It was built in 1937 with 130 hp Walter Major 4 in-line four cilinder. Even during test-flights, this aircraft had surprised with its high performance and modern look. However, it needed a good airport with long runways. On account of its landing speed, 140 km per hour, and of its high carrying capacity the aircraft could only be flown by skilled pilots. This aeroplane was meant for sporting competitions and as a quick courier. Its Maximum speed was 350 km/h. Only one was built that still exisits today in the National Technical Museum in Prague
