Product description

Known as the F4F Wildcat in the US Navy, the Grumman fighter entered service with the British Fleet Air Arm as the Martlet in the autumn of 1940. The aircraft played a significant role in the transition of British carrier-based fighters, previously reliant on outdated two-seaters, to more modern and powerful fighters. Thanks to its inherent qualities and a design geared towards carrier operations, the Martlet remained operational in combat units until the end of the war. This book recounts its history with the Royal Navy, seeing the Martlet deployed on fleet carriers in the Indian Ocean, based ashore in the North African desert, on escort carriers in the icy Arctic waters, and, of course, during Allied landings.
The author has had a lifelong interest in carrier-based aviation and seaplanes, with a particular fondness for British aircraft. His passion led him to transcribe the fruits of his research into articles devoted to carrier-based aircraft and seaplanes across the Channel. This work, dedicated solely to the Martlet, gives him the opportunity to survey most of the Fleet Air Arm's operations during the Second World War.   jet fighter planes, but it has to deal with a tight budget, an aeronautical industry devastated by the war and above all, the political aims of the Air Ministry.

In a dramatic and rather unexpected turn of events, the Heinkel 162 opened the world of jet engines to the French Air Force, enabling the training of the first French military pilots and hundreds of mechanics. These mechanics would, in fact, give it a particularly colorful end to its career, while also preserving one of the surviving examples from this epic story.
Following on from the book dedicated to the NC900, alias FW 190, this book unveils another "achievement" of the SNCAC, based on unpublished documents and on the knowledge acquired during the restoration of the He 162 WNr.120015. This complete restoration, including the recommissioning of certain equipment, now sheds light on the operation and implementation of this legendary aircraft, a surprising mix of advanced technology and ingenuity.
Produced in collaboration with the Memorial Flight association, this 332-page book, illustrated with over 500 photos and profiles by Yann Le Gal, includes an appendix entirely dedicated to modelers, with color references for the restoration, details of the French and German markings, and numerous dimensioned plans. It also features an appendix for flight simulator enthusiasts, containing all known aircraft parameters and its operating manual.
