The medium-haul passenger airliner Tu-154 was developed in the USSR by Tupolev's design bureau in the late 1960s. The aircraft became the most popular jet airliner in the Soviet Union, the main "workhorse" on domestic and international routes of Aeroflot.
In the early 1980's the design of the Tu-154 was improved. The upgraded airliner under the designation Tu-154M made its first flight in 1982. It was equipped with more modern economical engines, improved aerodynamics of the wing, as well as an updated passenger cabin. The serial production of the Tu-154M continued until 2013, more than 400 aircraft were produced.
The aircraft with the EW-85748 reg. number was operated for a long time in the Belarusian airline Belavia. The national carrier of Belarus actively used this airliner for international flights from Minsk in the period from 1992 to 2015. At the moment the aircraft is in storage.
