Within the International Brigades in Spain, fought more than 2,200 Czechoslovak citizens. Among the foreign volunteers they were eighth largest contingent - the French, Italians, Poles, Americans, Germans, Yugoslavs and Belgians.
In addition to infantry, artillery, tank drivers and health professionals were among them pilots. Names like Ferak, Bolfík, King, Vejvoda, John, Gabula, Soutek, Talaš and once more emphasized the communist propaganda
