The history of the Czechoslovak Air Force in the post-war period saw many formations of various purposes, but only one has the honor of being the first Czechoslovak air regiment, newly created after the shameful events of 1938 and 1939, which resulted in the disintegration of pre-war Czechoslovakia and the end of its air force, after twenty years with love, diligence and care built practically from scratch. On June 1, 1944, this historical unit became the 1st Czechoslovak Independent Fighter Aviation Regiment, which, as the first ever unit of the Czechoslovak foreign armed forces, entered the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic and began the fight against the German occupiers. After the war, under other names, except for a short period at the turn of 1945-46, still with serial number 1, she worked in the Czechoslovak military air force continuously until the end of 1994, when it was abolished as the longest existing Czechoslovak fighter air regiment. At the same time, it is one of the two Czechoslovak of air regiments that were deployed in combat operations during World War II of World War, the second, 3rd MS. battle aviation regiment, however, for the vast majority of its post-war existence, it already carried serial number 30, under which it was abolished on 31.12.1994, just like the 1st fighter aviation regiment.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the formation of the regiment, a comprehensive publication "The Story of the Southern Squadron" was published in May 2014 by the South Bohemian Region and the South Bohemian Museum in ?eské Bud?jovice, thanks to the initiative of Mrs. Klára Anderlová, with a reprint a year later. Both editions were intended and distributed exclusively among former members of this and other units of the former Czechoslovak Republic. air force. However, there was also interest in it among other supporters of our military aviation and aviation history. That is why now, in 2024, thanks to the publishing house Jakab Nevojice, there is another edition, this time in a different form in the Aero edition. This version, intended primarily for interested parties who did not get access to it in 2014, is therefore shortened compared to the original version mainly by more detailed personnel and technical data. The anniversary of the formation of the regiment is perhaps a suitable enough opportunity for us to remember its rich history, the people who served in its composition, as well as the aviation equipment with which the regiment conducted combat activities during the war, carried out aviation training in the post-war period and especially from the beginning of the 1950s. years ensured combat readiness to protect the air border of Czechoslovakia even in the event of a world war conflict between two irreconcilable power blocs, which was then expected in all seriousness.
But let's go back to the time before the 70s, when this story began to be written.
The publication is in A4 format, full color on high-quality chalk paper, V2 binding, 52 pages, many photos, color side views.
