With the expansion of the L-39, third-world customers in particular, demanded a version of the increased load carrying capacity that would better meet the requirements of a larger range of shooting training tasks and could also be used as a lightweight combat aircraft. Of course, the manufacturer tried to comply and the result of this effort was in the first stage of the L-39ZO, followed by L-39ZA. Both versions were given a new reinforced wing with four suspension points with a significantly increased carrying capacity compared to the L-39C, and the L-39ZA was also armed with an air cannon of the Soviet construction GŠ-23.
The final part describes the equipment of the individual versions, further supplemented by the pilots' memories of the aircraft.
